Club Rides

To enjoy the experience of group riding you need to be moderately fit and in possession of a suitable road bike. Riders need to bring with them the following items when joining any of our rides:

A mechanically sound road bike (full length mudguards + rear flap on wet rides).

A certified cycle helmet and suitable cycling clothing.

At least one spare inner tube (two preferably), tyre levers and a working pump.

A drinks bottle with energy/hydration solution (maybe two for longer rides).

An energy bar or food high in carbohydrates.

If cold or wet weather is likely, a waterproof top, gloves, overshoes and a skull cap (for those of us who are thinning on top!)

The Club offers a range of rides to cater for all abilities:

Saturday
8:30am start in Summer / 9am in Winter (see Facebook or members e-mail for changeover date)
Meeting Place: Chapelfield Gardens Bandstand, Norwich

The Club offers two rides on a Saturday:

A Standard Club ride which can be considered a social ride, normally at an average pace between 15 - 17mph, paced to suit all present, usually 50-60 miles with a cafe stop half way.

A Faster Group ride normally at an average pace between 18 – 20+mph, paced to suit all present, usually 60-70 miles with a cafe stop half way.

Routes and café stops are pre-arranged in advance and are sent to members via email to download ahead of the ride. Remember the distance stated doesn't include your ride to the start & back home again.
Non-members are welcome to join the rides to see what we’re all about, but after a few rides there is an expectation that they will become members. It is expected that both members & non-members wanting to ride contact the Ride Leaders by the Friday prior to the ride.

Sunday

8:30am start in Summer / 9am in Winter (see Facebook or members e-mail for changeover date)

Meeting place: Fiveways Public House, Earlham Green Lane, Norwich NR4 7TE

A group ride of around 40-45 miles with a cafe stop half way. It's run as a social ride at a 14mph pace to suit beginners. Remember the distance stated doesn't include your ride to the start & back home again.

Mudguards - All club rides

If the roads are wet or rain is forecast then mudguards (inc.rear mud flap) are appreciated by the group. It makes group riding so much more pleasurable and doesn't ruin your cycling kit!

The Club does not provide first aid cover or medical support for riders on Club runs. In the event of an accident, fellow riders must do all they can to support any injured parties.
