From Monday May 17th our regular and very popular summer ride will begin. These leave from the village sign in Eaton, just down the hill from the Cellar House pub by the traffic lights. Rides leave at 6.30pm sharp.
There will be 2 groups – a slower group ideal for novice riders and a faster group for fitter, more experienced riders. The rides are about 20 miles in length and follow quiet country lanes.
From May 17th these rides will replace the current rides which leave from The Firs in Norwich and the Waitrose roundabout in Wymondham. These rides will resume in the autumn.
Please note: - there will be no ride on Monday June 7th or Monday July 12th. There is a club committee meeting on these nights.
These rides are about 50/60 miles in length and are ridden at an average of about 15/16mph. Sometimes we do longer rides of 70/80 miles. We always ride in a bunch and take it in turns to ride at the front. We never leave riders behind..

Rides of about 30/40 miles and at an average speed of about 14/15mph. These are ideal for newer riders who want to ride that bit further. They will leave from outside The Fiveways Pub. This is on the Fiveways roundabout, where the Earlham Rd meets Bluebell Lane near the University.
If the weather is bad and you want to know if the ride will take place, please ring Tony Goodall (01603 407597) by 8.30am.
PLEASE NOTE:- THE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY RIDES WILL BOTH LEAVE AT 8.30AM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL.
MUDGUARDS SHOULD BE FITTED FOR ALL RIDES IN THE WINTER. A REAR MUD FLAP IS ALSO DESIRABLE.
Riders need to bring the following when joining any of our rides:-
- At least one spare tube (preferably 2) and tyre levers.
- A drinks bottle - maybe 2 for longer rides. Dehydration will seriously hinder performance. Energy drinks are a good idea.
- Energy bars or other high energy food is a must. 'Hitting the wall' or 'the hunger bonk', as cyclists call it, is not pleasant. An energy bar can work wonders if you are feeling tired and need a boost.
- A waterproof - getting wet makes you cold and soon saps the energy.
- Keeping warm is crucial - this preserves energy. As winter comes on, shorts are not a good idea. Also, warm gloves and a skull cap to wear under the helmet do much to keep you warm. Thin thermal under layers are also great.
