Club Rules
- That this club be called the Norwich Amateur Bicycle Club and that is has for its object the encouragement of cycling.
- That this club be under the management of a President, Vice President(s), Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Awards Secretary, Hon. Minute Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Club Captain, Vice-Captain and a committee of nine first claim members who shall be elected annually.
(All officials of the club shall be ex-officio members of the committee.) - That the committee shall have the power to co-opt not more than two members, if considered necessary.
- That this Club consist of the following categories of membership:
Family; Life Member
First Claim, Second Claim & Associate Senior (Over 18 Years old)
First Claim, Second Claim & Associate Junior (16 to 18 Years old)
First Claim, Second Claim & Associate Juvenile (Under 16 Years old)
NOTE:LIFE MEMBERSHIP – To any first claim member of the club for long and outstanding service to the Club. This membership is non-subscriptive and is only given at the A.G.M. A Life Member has all the rights and privileges of first claim membership. - That the Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than the end of anuary each year.
- That the subscriptions of new members shall be paid or guaranteed by heir proposers on the night of election.
- Each candidate for admission shall be proposed by one member and seconded by another and the names of such candidates shall be brought before the committee to be voted for, and attain a 2/3rds majority. New members may if necessary be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Any Members elected after 31st August in any year shall be admitted at full subscription to include the following year.
- That any member desirous of resigning from the club must send in a written notice to the Hon. Secretary on or before 31st December or he/she shall become liable for the club subscription for the following year.
- A General Meeting of which seven days notice must be given may be called at any time by a resolution of the committee or on the requisition of twenty members by a letter addressed to the Secretary specifying the object of such a meeting.
- That a Committee Meeting of this Club be held once a month or as decided by the Committee. Members may attend Committee Meetings, but shall not have the power of voting. The Committee, however, reserve to themselves the right of holding any meetings privately if thought desirable. That the minutes of such meetings be made available for members to read, at their request, after confirmation.
- That any member of the Committee who fails to attend three consecutive meetings without giving satisfactory reasons for his/her absence shall cease to be a member of the Committee; the Committee having power to fill any vacancy that may arise.
- That twelve members constitute a quorum at a General Meeting and at Committee Meetings five.
- That the Club Badge shall be the City Arms on a shield with a scroll at he bottom bearing the name of the club.
- That the accounts of the club, duly audited, together with a report on the proceedings of the past year, shall be presented at the Annual General Meeting.
- That any member changing his/her residence shall notify the same to the Secretary as soon as possible.
- That if the conduct of any member shall be inconsistent with the character and interests of the club, the Committee upon the complaint being laid before them, shall have power after thoroughly investigating the matter to propose his/her expulsion at a General Meeting of the Club, which shall decide the issue by a 2/3rds majority decision. No person shall be eligible for re-election to the club within 12 months of expulsion and only then at a General Meeting (the period between successive A.G.M.s shall constitute the required time lapse for the purpose of this rule).
- That the Committee shall be empowered to refuse entry of a member in any of the Club Championships, should there be at the time sufficient cause for such refusal.
- The colours of the CLUB be Maroon, Gold and Black. NOTE – Members are particularly requested to wear the Club colours when racing.
- That NO members, except second claim members, shall take part etc., in any cycle event as a member of another club, nor while competing in such events shall he/she wear the time, badge or colours of another club.
- That the Committee shall have the power to act as it may deem fit should anything arise which is not provided for by these rules.
- That no ride riding in the name of the Club shall start in any open cycle competition or be eligible for a prize in any event promoted by the Club unless he/she has paid his/her entry fee and subscription by the due start time.
- That proposed alterations or amendments to Rules be submitted in writing to the Club secretary at least 21 days prior to the meeting the text of such proposals to be included with the agenda for that meeting as per rule 9,
- New Members, upon admission, to receive a copy of the Rules and existing members to be notified of alterations or amendments thereto.
- No Organiser shall cancel any open event, other than on the day of the event, without consultation with and agreement of three other officers of the club.
FIRST CLAIM MEMBER – Entitles one to participate in all aspects of Club Activity, i.e. racing, organisation, administration etc.
SECOND CLAIM MEMBER – Any First Claim member of another club who wishes to associate with the club. He/she can only race as prescribed in the current BC/RTTC rules. They are not eligible to take office or race for standards or trophies.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER – Available to anyone not belonging to another club who wish to associate themselves with the club. Such members will not be eligible for office or race in the name of the club except club events. They are not eligible for time standards or club trophies.
Youth organisations and Schools may affiliate to the club, but individuals of those bodies must be club members to take part in club activities.
Members wishing to affiliate to the BC (formerly BCF) shall pay in addition to the appropriate fee.
Any member whose subscription remains unpaid by the 31st March in the year in which it is due shall be suspended from all rights and privileges of club membership.
